Asterisk Map of Austin

Austin based agency Asterisk approached me with one of the most ambitious briefs I have ever taken on.  Their client, Oracle, opened doors to their East Austin building and required an exceptional installations inside their corporate office.  The challenge was to illustrate a stylized rendering of the city of Austin in isometric perspective—a citywide map and a zoom in around the tech giant’s office. The maps were then printed on two cork boards for their employees to pin things to the map, a truly interactive experience.  Each map stand at 4.5 feet by 5 feet. Like the Where’s Waldo books I enjoyed so much as a boy I wanted to incorporate fun Easter eggs into the map. I even found a way to sneak a naked Matthew McConaughey playing bongos in the illustration.
