Google MyConcerns
2019
R/GA
I joined forces with global advertising firm RG/A to take the reins in leading an animated short explainer film for Google. The focus of the film is Google’s internal initiative, MyConcerns, designed to establish a direct line of communication for employees with internal management and human resources, offering support to address concerns or needs. The animation unfolds through a single hand-drawn line supporting bold shapes, working harmoniously to convey a clear and positive message.
As the lead illustrator and storyboard artist, I brought the script to life from start to finish. The design injects wit and simplicity into the visuals, ensuring they maintain consistency with the Google brand while also reflecting my personal illustration style.
Exploratory Phase
In the initial week of our project, I delved into discovering the most fitting visual language for the film. I initially experimented with a predominantly shape and type-focused approach, interspersed with moments of images conveyed through line art. However, as the project progressed, there arose a concern about establishing a deeper connection with the audience. To address this, I ventured into incorporating character designs that embodied a more reality-based anthropomorphic style. By the end of this exploration, we struck a harmonious balance where both elements seamlessly merged, resulting in a beautifully clean and clear message.
