Poetry in America
2017
Black Math
Poetry in America, crafted and directed by Harvard professor Elisa New, serves as a public television series and a multi-platform educational initiative, bringing poetry into classrooms and living rooms worldwide. I had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with my best buds at Black Math, pitching and designing the show open and graphics package for this unique program.
While the client handed us the logo and color palette, the rest of my presentation sprang from my personal love for the written word and poetry itself. I even minored in creative writing and still relish writing for fun to this day.
Key luminaries were also provided, ranging from the incomparable hip-hop artist Nas to the legend Langston Hughes and the one and only Emily Dickinson. Each episode delved into a specific poem, featuring experts and discussions about that poem and its impact on the whole.
I personally embraced a scrapbook approach, where photos and written words come together to evoke a sense of personal experiences and storytelling.
