Squarespace
David Lee, Chief Creative Officer of Squarespace, brought me on board for a campaign aimed at showcasing the company’s e-commerce capabilities. Armed with two key concepts as a starting point, I had the creative freedom to weave together a compelling narrative sans voiceover.
The inaugural short film, “Build It,” centered around launching a cupcake business, constructing a website with Squarespace, selling products, and completing seamless transactions. The animation sported a faux-stop motion style. Additionally, I crafted a custom typeface with alternates, developed a library of icons, and designed cool swag like posters, t-shirts, and other funky knick-knacks for sale.
For the second short film, “Open for Business,” I employed the hanging sign in the door gimmick to symbolize a diverse array of businesses benefiting from a Squarespace website. This approach allowed me to unleash my creativity with custom hand-drawn typography and illustrated signage, complete with unique storefronts for each sign. Animation lovingly made by my good pal TJ Sochor.
